Raymond Masao Sawada, a skilled ice hockey player from Canada, who gained recognition for his outstanding performance while playing for the Dallas Stars. Sawada’s career started at Cornell University from 2004-2008, where he was co-captain in his senior year and a member of the prestigious Quill and Dagger society. Soon after, he signed a contract with the Dallas Stars in March 2008.
Sawada’s career took off quickly as he scored his first NHL goal for the Dallas Stars against the Edmonton Oilers on his 24th birthday. However, Sawada was unable to secure a permanent spot on the Dallas Stars’ roster during the 2011-12 season, leading to his reassignment by Dallas to the St. John’s IceCaps.
Sawada continued to show his dedication to the team by signing a one-year AHL deal to remain with St. John’s in August 2012. After his tenure with the IceCaps ended, Sawada joined the Colorado Eagles in the ECHL and then played for Tappara in SM-Liiga, where he helped his team to the SM-Liiga silver medal. Sawada signed with the Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League in 2014 and later joined the Oji Eagles of Asia League Ice Hockey.
